NEW YORK— April 14, 2020—Morgan James’ new release, Resetting: An Unplanned Journey of Love, Loss, and Living Again, by Susan B. Hassmiller, is a gripping tale of immense love and loss with practical, everyday lessons on finding a positive and healthy path forward, away from grief. Susan B. Hassmiller’s experience as a health professional, as well as her own story of loss, informs the pages of Resetting, as she depicts how to wrestle with grief and move beyond it.

Susan B. Hassmiller knows that, while grief and loss are universal to the human experience, the idea of loss is greatly feared and ignored in modern society. Many are unwilling to discuss the topic of loss unless they are personally experiencing it, as they believe that discussing death will somehow make it more powerful. Hassmiller, however, is not afraid to discuss the impact death has had on her life as a career nurse and widow. She has watched the journeys of suffering and death in her patients, while also experiencing it firsthand, which completely blindsided her emotionally and spiritually.

Resetting is written in a diary format, offering a look at the private thoughts and feelings Hassmiller experienced throughout the grief process. Susan B. Hassmiller helps those who have suffered loss by providing unfiltered depictions of her experiences and offering suggestions on how to cope, from words to say to tasks to take on. Hassmiller’s hope is to provide a safe space for others experiencing loss, so that they do not feel so isolated and trapped in the darkness of their own thoughts.
