NEW YORK—February 13, 2018—Morgan James Kid’s new release, Cowboy Grandma by Wendy Ault and Sarah King, is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about a grandmother with a unique career. Inspired by the real life of the author, it teaches kids it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

Cowboy Grandma is the true story of Wendy Ault, a woman who grew up dreaming of being a cowboy, and found the courage to pursue that dream later in life. As a little girl in California, Wendy loved horses. She watched Roy Rogers tend animals and chase bad guys, and she wanted to learn to rope and ride too! Sadly, young Wendy was told that was no job for girls. She went on to join the military and become a doctor, but she never lost her passion for cows, horses, and life on the range. As a sixty-five-year-old grandmother, Wendy fulfilled her lifelong dream and became a cowboy!

Wendy Ault and her daughter Sarah King wrote Cowboy Grandma to encourage kids and their parents to never give up on their dreams. The unique focus on the grandmother as the story’s main character engages multiple generations of readers while offering a fresh perspective and an underlying theme of the importance of family. King’s illustrations draw readers into the story and animate its characters in a humorous and endearing way and bring life to the western setting. Cowboy Grandma is as entertaining as it is inspiring, and makes for a story time that the whole family can enjoy together.
